New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Operatives Assessments

Duration:

The NRSWA Streetworks assessments are split into several units as described in the course content below. The typical operatives course lasts 5 days and includes units 1-6 & unit 9. We can conduct individual units at the client’s request, But a minimum of three units must be passed to be eligible for a Streetworks card.

Accreditaion

City & Guilds issue the unit certificates and these are then submitted to a Streetworks register to issue a Streetworks card. Please note that a minimum of three units must be achieved to be eligible for a card.

Who should attend?

Anyone who is required to work in the public highway on roads up to 40mph. This includes gas, water, electric and telecoms workers.

Pre-requisites:

You must already have previous experience working under supervision in the public highway. Please note that this is an assessment course and not a training course. Please contact us if you require additional training.

Qualification Structure:

This is a unit-based qualification and Candidates can be assessed on just one unit if required. Typically Candidates cover units 1-6 & unit 9 as standard, but we can accommodate units 7 & 8 on request.

  • Unit 1
    Location and Avoidance of Underground Services.
  • Unit 2
    Signing, Lighting & Guarding.
  • Unit 3
    Excavation in the Highway.
  • Unit 4
    Reinstatement & Compaction of Backfill Materials.
  • Unit 5
    Reinstatement & Compaction of Sub-base and Road-base
    in Non-Bituminous Materials.
  • Unit 6
    Re-instatement in Non-Bituminous Materials.
  • Unit 7
    Re-instatement in Hot-Lay Bituminous Materials.
  • Unit 8
    Re-instatement in concrete slabs.
  • Unit 9
    Re-instatement in Modular Surfaces and Concrete
    Footways.
  • Teaching Methods:

  • Classroom-based theory.
  • Centre-based Unit Assessments.

Career Progression:

Candidates can progress onto further Gas, Water, Electric or Telecoms courses.
