
Asbestos Awareness Training
Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 (CAR 2006) places a requirement on employers to ensure that their staff have undergone suitable asbestos awareness training so that they are aware of the potential dangers they may face and also the procedures they must follow in the event that they are working in the vicinity of asbestos containing materials (ACMs).
UKATA Asbestos awareness training comprises of written and oral presentations. Courses can be tailored to each organisation if required.
Course Agenda
Asbestos awareness training will include information on the following
- The properties of asbestos and its effects on health.
(Specific attention is paid to the increased chance of lung cancer to those individuals who smoke). - The types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and ACMs in buildings, plant and equipment.
- The general procedures which are to be followed when dealing with an emergency in the event of the uncontrolled release of asbestos dust into the workplace.
- How to specifically avoid the risks from asbestos.
Method: Lecture, practical demonstration and theory assessment
Course duration: 1/2 day (3 hours)
