Evacuation Chair Training – for Operatives

What does the law say?

Under the Equality Act 2010, it is unlawful to discriminate against any person with regard to any disability they may have. This includes the evacuation of your premises in the event of a fire.

Being left behind in a stairwell or refuge whilst other colleagues are leaving is not only harmful, but is a clear breach of legislation which could result in legal action being taken against you.

In the event of an incident it is vital that the correct procedures are followed with regards to the use of any evacuation chairs or equipment.

This in-depth training uses videos and an information pack and provides a more practical use of the evacuation chair.

Evacuation Chair Training

The course content consists of a short theory session covering key areas such as risk assessment and legislation along with practical use of the chair.

There is plenty of time for the delegates to practice and gain confidence in its and their ability.

The course is run using your own equipment, however, streetwisetraining does have chairs that can be used if required.

After completing the course the delegate will:

  • Have a basic understanding of fire regulations affecting mobility-impaired people
  • Better understand issues affecting those with a mobility impairment
  • Understand manual handling of the chair
  • Have confidence in the chair and their ability to operate it.

streetwisetraining will come along to your business premises and carry out training tailored to your chairs or equipment.
