
Work at Height
Overview
This training course is designed to provide you with the skills to enable safe and efficient work at height using full body harnesses, energy absorbing lanyards and work positioning lanyards. We will provide you with a broad understanding of the uses and limitations of the equipment and fall arrest and work positioning techniques used. Starting from basics at low level, you will be introduced to the various techniques and only after your trainer is satisfied will you progress to a more exposed location.

Who is this course for?
Personnel who are required to work at height. These may include maintenance engineers, mast and tower climbers or any industry where there is a risk of falls from height.
Prerequisites
Medically fit and healthy (if unsure, please contact us) The minimum age of candidates is 18 years
Course Content
This is a practical course covering:
- Legislation
- Work at Height Regulations 2005
- Risk Assessments
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
- Types of protection against falls from a height
- Types of access using Personal Fall Protection Equipment
- Selection and types of Personal Fall Protection Equipment for fall arrest
- Care, maintenance, inspection and disposal of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
- Pre use checks
- Fitting and adjustment of Personal Fall Protection Equipment before climbing
- Climbing and moving around structures
- Rescue and considerations for incidents involving harness suspension
Assessment
The course assessment is by short written test and continuous practical assessment.
Certification
A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.
It is recommended that further training is carried out within 3 years.
